II--TECHNICAL CORRECTIONS OF IMMIGRATION LAWS
SECTION 201. American Institute in Taiwan
- Section 101(a)(27)(D) of the Immigration and
Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(27)(D)) is amended--
- (1) by inserting `or of the American Institute in
Taiwan,' after `of the United States Government abroad,'; and
- (2) by inserting `(or, in the case of the American
Institute in Taiwan, the Director thereof)' after `Foreign Service establishment'

SECTION 601. Visas for officials of Taiwan
- Whenever the President of Taiwan or any other
high-level official of Taiwan shall apply to visit the United States for the purposes of
discussions with United States Federal or State government officials concerning--
- (1) trade or business with Taiwan that will reduce
the United States-Taiwan trade deficit;
- (2) prevention of nuclear proliferation;
- (3) threats to the national security of the United
States;
- (4) the protection of the global environment;
- (5) the protection of endangered species; or
- (6) regional humanitarian disasters.
The official shall be admitted to the United
States, unless the official is otherwise excludable under the immigration laws of the
United States.
